Purposeful Living

Living a conscious lifestyle is about consistently making smart and informed decisions that ultimately elevate one’s quality of life. We aim to live a conscious life through:

  • Investing and supporting the skills of dwindling communities to create our artisanal Copper Collective.
  • Creating Conscious Ware such as steel and glass straws to eradicate the damaging impact of plastic on our planet.
  • Developing exquisite Chocolatier that requires no-palm oil and therefore aid in rainforest conservation, locally produced (lower carbon footprint) and sweetened with local dates.

Similarly, as a sole consumer one has the profound ability to impact the planet positively. Which is why we’re constantly thankful for the connectivity that social media brings. After all, how else would we have come across ingenious platforms such as ‘A Beautiful Mess’ or ‘Upcycle That’ who share our ethos for all things e-conscious? Today TGC looks at four brands that share simple yet insightful tips to minimising our carbon footprint.

Collective Gen.com is a must-read for anyone interested in saving the planet or at the very least minimising the damage caused to our environment. Geneva Vanderzeil, who grew up in Australia and started her blog after moving to London in 2008, whimsically explores and educated readers on the art of repurposing and upcycling through easy-to-read articles such as Four DIYS To Help You Ditch Your Plastic Bags; which promotes the positive aspects of reusing cloth and hemp bags as opposed to plastic variations.

One for the home lovers and would-be decorators Paper & Stitch.com is a blog that was created in the early 2000s by Brittni Mehloff. The former high-school art teacher who evolved her passion for DIY interior projects into a full-time job highlights re-purposing; the eco-conscious art of re-using an existing item or object to new effect. This is highlighted in a plethora of ways across the Paper & Stitch platform by interesting articles such as How to Make Reusable Paper Towels with Fabric Scraps. Similarly, the repurposable box from our Arabian Collection makes for the perfect jewellery box.

Started by sisters Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman, A Beautiful Mess is another perfect example that highlights the art of purposeful living. In a website that spans dĂ©cor, recipes, crafts and natural beauty the Midwest duo highlight how simple DIY projects negate the need for unnecessary clutter. The ripple effect of this type of repurposing as evidenced by Paper & Stitch as well means we as consumers aren’t contributing to landfills that are regularly overflowing with discarded products. Articles like Decluttering Tips from An Aspiring Hoarder are specifically insightful.

Founded by Judy Rom, a lover of all things sustainable. Upcycle That is much like its eponymous name a haven for discarded goods remoulded into coveted treasures. Under the watchful eye of Judy, Upcycle That aims to eradicate pollution caused by waste through intelligent tips and tricks that promote a more purposeful and conscious way of life. Articles like Green Wrapping Paper Ideas that promote using preexisting home fabrics instead of traditional wrapping paper or Easter Jars that suggest using jam jars for unique holiday gifting ideas are the perfect example of what to expect on Upcycle That.
