Three Eco-friendly Materials to Incorporate into Your Life

A look at three biodegradable and recyclable materials that can be used in your household

Many people think that going green equates to a complete change in their lifestyle. The good news is, heading towards a more sustainable way of life doesn’t have to be a 360-degree approach. Making small changes on a daily basis can greatly impact our planet and make positive changes. One of the easiest ways to do this is to focus on materials that are eco-friendly, biodegradable, and easily recyclable.  Here are three materials that are green and can be easily found and incorporated into your home.

MOS Bamboo

This environmentally sustainable material is one of the most durable and densest bamboos available in the market. Native to China, MOS bamboo is also a rapidly growing plant and is 100% compostable at the end of its life, breaking down completely and leaving no harmful chemicals or toxins on our planet. We recommend switching to MOS bamboo when possible, and one of the easiest switches is with your toothbrush. Unfortunately, most toothbrushes are made from plastic and nylon, both of which come from fossil fuels. Billions of these toothbrushes are thrown away each year and it takes 1,000 years to decompose, either in a landfill or in our oceans. Unlike most toothbrushes, our Bamboo Toothbrushes are not synthetic and made from MOS bamboo, which means they are easily recyclable and 100% biodegradable.

Copper

Copper is one of the most sustainable materials. It can be fully recycled continuously, and unlike other materials which break down over time, copper can be reused multiple times for several different purposes, making it a truly green material. Our Copper Collection is made with 100% pure copper, which is not only fully recyclable, but has healing benefits as well.

Glass

Glass is a sustainable, 100% recyclable material that can easily replace plastic goods. It is one of the most recyclable materials on earth and even when it cannot be reused or recycled, it’s easily and safely broken down and releases no harmful chemicals into the soil or air. One of the most used plastic items globally are plastic straws. In the United States alone, roughly 500 million plastic straws are used and thrown away every day and most of these end up in the ocean and on our beaches, killing marine life and polluting our oceans.  We offer reusable Glass Straws, which negate the use of plastic when it comes to drinking straws, altogether.
